RP History
What follows is an account (sometimes detailed) of the RP since it's
inception in September 1996. There are some gaps, but the general ideas
are communicated well I think. This page runs in chronological order
rather than reversed as it seems better to begin at the beginning.
Enjoy!
THE STORY BEGINS
Our RP begins after Lancelot and Guinevere have left Camelot ....
Lancelot becoming a wanderer and Guinevere staying with the Holy
Sisters. Arthur has summoned Guinevere back to his side and has need of
Lancelot as well.
THE MESSAGE TO LANCELOT: A messager appeared in Glenshadows ....
Guinevere. She brought with her a request for Lancelot to return to
Camelot, but after discussion Lancelot discovered she brought it upon
herself to ask for his returning, knowing that the King wanted him back
but could not bring himself to ask it of Lancelot himself.
THE KING ARRIVES: When Arthur arrived at Glenshadows, he saw both
Lancelot & Guinevere conversing, and forgave them both their infedility
but asked a vow of faithfulness from them both ...... their motto,
encrusted upon the Round Table .... "Ever Faithful"
NOTE FROM ARTHUR: Please inform all Knights that I have had the Table
reconstructed, with elegant marble inlays, and mahogany woodworkings.
The room of the Round Table awaits its rightful inhabitants.
Guinevere's throne in that room awaits her as well.
NINIANNE, THE SEER: One evening in the tavern, Niniane sought out
the Queen in order to tell her of a disturbing dream she had involving
the son of the King. Since Guinevere knew of no son, this was
disturbing news indeed, particularly since the seer told of war between
father and son.
LANCELOT & JADESS: Lancelot has found love away from Guinevere. He
has fallen in love with the lovely Queen Jadess from a neighboring
kingdom. Unfortunately, her brother, the evil ERIGAST, has attempted
several times to have her, Lancelot and any associated with his sister
killed and to take the kingdom from her. She is in desperate need of
help from Arthur's kingdom and the Knights of the Round Table. The King
and Lancelot have both pledged their support to her.
September 16, 1996
KIDNAPPING OF GUINEVERE: The queen was abducted from Glenshadow's
Tavern by the Black Knight (an emissary of Malagant). He held a knife
to her throat, and even though Lancelot, Sir Percival, and others in the
tavern tried to save her, she was taken by him. It is suspected that
Erigast, brother of Jadess, instigated this attack.
September 23, 1996
RESCUE OF THE QUEEN: Lancelot sought out The Black Knight, and
finding Guinevere, freed her. She ran into the forest as Lancelot
remained to fight and defeat the Black Knight, killing him. As Jadess's
brother, Erigast, is suspect of being in league with the Black Knight,
retribution against him is being planned.
GUINEVERE & ARTHUR REUNITED: Guinevere fled into the forest to
further escape her captors and remained there for several days until she
worked her way back to Glenshadows tavern, where she came upon her
husband who was searching for her. Her dress torn and ragged, her face
smudged and sweat-streaked, she fell into his arms, exhausted. There was
dedication in her eyes, and some very valuable information in her memory
regarding Malagant's forces ... and something else, which was never
revealed.
Arthur took her into the tavern, as she shivered from the cold and
dehydration resulting from her exertions. He removed his cloak, wrapped
it tightly about her, and sat holding her until she regained
consciousness. When she became able, he lifted her with him upon his
stallion, and turned the animal back towards Camelot. He held her
closely as they rode, cradling her protectively. His head bowed down
close to hers... speaking softly to soothe her, telling her the same
fantastic stories that his mother used to put him to sleep when he was a
boy. The horse bearing the royal couple disappeared slowly under the
protective mists of the forest. Only the slight glimmer of the hilt of
Excalibur, dancing mystically with their movements, attested to their
presence.
The Wedding of Lancelot & Jadess
The marriage of Queen Jadess to Sir Lancelot took place on Saturday,
with Natah Matrus performing the ceremony, Queen Guinevere serving as
Matron of Honor and ShadowRunner as Best man. The reception at
Glenshadow's Tavern brought dismay and heartache for Jadess, as Lancelot
was attacked, taken away by a wizard and assumed dead. Guinevere and
Erigast, brother of Jadess, are searching a "spiritual plane" for him at
this point.
January 9, 1997
ARTHUR & GUINEVERE: Arthur has returned from his time abroad and
they have been happily reunited once again. Guinevere, who had planned
to seclude herself with the Holy Sisters after his return, has been
persuaded by Arthur to remain in Camelot under his protection. Though
the kingdom is unaware of it, she is with child (approx. 4 months).
However, there is a dark secret behind it which neither the King nor
Queen will discuss. However, he has ordered a 12 man guard to accompany
her whenever she leaves the immediate castle premises.
LANCELOT & JADESS: Lancelot escaped his incarceration from Margause
(it is only assumed Margause was to blame ... she never admitted to
it) and he has returned to help Jadess rule and maintain her
kingdom. They are expecting their first child.
M0RGANNA & SIR KAY: They had a brief, yet volatile, relationship
with Morganna being unable to completely devote herself to him, nor to a
reformed life of goodness, and Sir Kay having great difficulty in
revealing to the King his love for her. They have since parted and Sir
Kay is now with Tysira de Breva. (Sidenote: Sir Kay will probably
not be online very much for awhile during the day, perhaps indefinitely.
Hopefully we can see him in the evenings)
PRINCE MALAGANT: The evil former Knight of the Round Table has made
his presence known and also that he was responsible for the kidnapping
of Guinevere in September. He speaks of treason and taking the kingdom
by force, yet no overt action has been taken so far. He appears to be
allying with Morganna, though she is very secretive in her support of
him. To date Malagant has openly challenged Arthur's authority as King
and has intimidated several of the loyal knights into duels.
COLETTA: This 'lovely' lady comes in to charmingly harrass Lancelot
from time to time ... I'm sure there are others as well.
March 24, 1997
ARTHUR & GUINEVERE: Arthur has been occupied assembling knights and
making arrangements for more formal meetings, his health has improved
with the return of his queen. Guinevere has been seldom seen recently,
spending her time in seclusion, though she does make appearances when
possible at Cameliard for certain events. She is looking tired and her
clothing does not fit properly anymore. Her condition is becoming more
apparent, though no one speaks of it.
TYSIRA & KAY: The happiness of their expected twins has been tainted
with the arrival of Lady Isabeau who claims that SHE is the true Lady
Kay because of pledges made by their fathers years ago. The King has
nullified this claim and banished Isabeau, though she has threatened
revenge against them all. The stress of this and injury during battle
resulted in Tysira sustaining a concussion. At the request of Arthur,
and with hesitations from Kay as well as Tysira, Morganna healed her.
MORGANNA: Reluctantly assisted with the healing of Tysira and seems
resentful of it. She most certainly will make the King pay in some way.
She has initiated a partnership with Chance Holiday which appears to
have sinister implications.
MALAGANT: It is rumored that Malagant is dead. After she and her
friends were taunted by Malagant, Paloma of Siam hired an assassin to
rid them of him. Sortly afterward she was presented with a small box
containing a severed finger (yuck!). It is assumed the finger is that
of Malagant, and he is at this time presumed dead. In the confusion of
the suspected death of Malagant, it was discovered that he & Elaine the
Faire were not only lovers but secretly married ((Isn't that just like
Mal not to mention a wife?! LOL)). She now wears his signet ring,
which may or may not have some magical properties.
August 11, 1997 It appears in
the absence of Queen Jadess and King Arthur , Guinevere and Lancelot
were given time together, and their love rekindled. The Queen has given
birth to a son, who, unbeknownst to most of the kingdom, is actually the
child of Malagant. The King is aware of this but has sworn to raise the
child as his own. She fled briefly to France to keep the boy safe from
Malagant, but returned soon after, filled with remorse for leaving her
husband and kingdom so impetuously. The boy, as yet unnamed is hidden
away in a secret convent with his nurse for safekeeping. Captain Tysira
di Brera, also known as Lady Kay, has been off at war, leading the
Go-Back into victory. Her and Sir Kay's cubs have not yet been born,
and there is little or no word of her from the battle. Queen Jadess was
taken by an emissary of her brother, after they abducted her daughter
Jadene and held her, forcing Jadess to surrender to them or lose the
child. Lancelot rescued her and returned her safely to their home.
Their child is due at any time.
Sir Gawain has returned to Camelot after a 3 year absence which has
matured him into a knight of skill and wisdom. He has taken a fancy to
Morganna, who apparently is rather fond of him as well. He accompanied
the Queen as protector when she briefly fled to France in an effort to
remove the child from any danger of Malagant. Malagant has re-enter the
realm bringing with him threats and violence. He and Morganna have
battled frequently, the most recent time resulting in Morganna's loss of
her hand, which was restored through magic. Malagant wears a ring given
to him by her which keeps his life within her control and wishes.
August 18,1997 New arrivals to
the kingdom include Burmaltus (a man seeking audience with the King) and
Aoife Ruad (a young woman seeking refuge). Queen Jadess has given birth
to Lancelot's son, to be named Quailan. Though they spoke few words,
Guinever & Lancelot exchanged passionage glances, though they kept a
safe distance from one another. The Queen is becoming more concerned
over the absence and lack of word regarding Arthur, she has also sent
for her childhood friend, Lady Victoria, to join her at Camelot.
Morganna mused out the window at Gawain's absence. ((Welcome return to
Lady Elaine & Sir Crimsaun)).
August 25, 1997 The Lady
Victoria arrived from Leonesse, summoned at the Queen's request. Arthur
returned from his search for Guinevere in France, but discovering that
she & Lancelot had rekindled their affair, he has left Camelot for 30
days in which time Guin is to decide either to leave Camelot with
Lancelot or remain as Queen and Arthur's faithful wife. Merlin graced
the room with a visit, though he brought with him a word of warning to
all. Merlin then played a bit of a cat and mouse game with Morganna, the
whole time dangling the secret of Dragonfire in front of her like bait
to a fish. Burmaltus revealed his clouded history as a knight. Captain
Tysira di Brera made her final appearance in Camelot, her marriage to
Sir Kay dissolved, as she returns to the Go-Back and their battle. When
her cubs are born, the male will be delivered to Arthur & Guinevere to
be raised. SUPPLEMENTAL - Guinevere & Gawain had a heartfelt
discussion the night after she collapsed regarding the future of Camelot
and the treason involved with her infidelity.
September 1, 1997 The arrival of
Melliandra and Sir Galahad ... Melliandra come as a princess intent on
learning how a proper Queen behaves, and Sir Galahad arrives to join the
ranks of the Knights of the Round Table. Coletta sauntered back into
Camelot immediately becoming embroiled in a heated discussion with
Lancelot. Later, she cast her devious eyes on Galahad, while uttering
something about about a torrid affair, knowing well Lancelot would
understand. Elaine the Fair and Lancelot both welcomed the arrival of
their son, Galahad, and conflicted with each other over his attentions.
Guinevere, Lady Victoria, and Sir Gawain left for the abbey which houses
Guinevere's son, for prayer, relection, and to seek guidance for what
has happened between Lancelot & Guinevere.
September 8, 1997 GALAHAD became
annoyed yet again with his parents, LANCELOT and ELAINE, and briefly
considered leaving Camelot. MORGANNA seemed rather quiet, in fact, too
quiet, and may be hatching some devious plot with a dark and mysterious
stranger, CHANCE HOLIDAY. AOIFE amidst all the ruckuss continued to
play her beautiful music to try and alleviate some of the tension in
Cameliard Hall. LANCELOT finally told JADESS about his night of passion
with GUINEVERE. JADESS, heartbroken, took their newborn son and left,
possibly never to return. Her evil brother, ERIGAST, sought out
GUINEVERE far away in the Holy Abbey, where she, SIR GAWAIN and LADY
VICTORIA had fled for prayer and reflection. ERIGAST, angry that his
sister had been hurt, killed SIR GAWAIN before threatening all at the
Abbey, and leaving with a warning NOT to hurt Jadess again. GAWAIN was
revived by MERLIN and cared for privately by VICTORIA. The shadowy
figure of CHANCE HOLIDAY haunted ERIGAST and may have affected his
departure. There were more new faces as well as some returning old
faces this week. SUPPLEMENTAL - MERLIN gave GUINEVERE a
lesson in trust, forcing her to think more on her options for resolution
of her & LANCELOT's treason. Later, MERLIN, GUINEVERE, SIR GAWAIN, and
LADY VICTORIA met in the garden.
September 15, 1997 MERLIN had a
few heated words with SIR BALIN, who wanted to know if the story he
heard about GUINEVERE and LANCELOT was true. Merlin told him to be
patient and wait for ARTHUR's return. That did not set well with Balin,
who in turn snapped angrily at Merlin. MORGANNA and CHANCE have been
seen together, this makes many quite nervous. On the surface it appears
harmless enough but looks are often decieving. AOIFE again lit up the
room by here mere presence. Her music warming the hearts of all within
Cameliard. The wonderous music greatly helping to ease tensions.
JADESS had a conversation with BALIN as well. Jadess is clearly quite
angry and hurt by what LANCELOT has confessed to her in private. She is
unsure if she should forgive Lancelot or even if she can forgive him.
((BURMALTUS finally slayed the evil lag beast and returned to Cameliard
triumphantly!)) Burmaltus IC seems to be quite the quiet fellow but is
clearly taking in every conversation around him. He to has briefly
spoken to Merlin. GUINEVERE and LADY VICTORIA remain at the Abbey in
prayer and reflection, though they are expected to return soon, while
word has reached Camelot that Sir Gawain has left the kingdom once
again, in spite of his love for Victoria.
September 22, 1997 The QUEEN
remained at the Abbey in prayer, contemplating the return of her husband
and mourning the departure of GAWAIN and the disappearance of LANCELOT.
LADY VICTORIA remains steadfastly with her. LANCELOT is still missing
and presumed to have left Camelot (though he has not). JADESS is
thought to be pondering her relationship with Lancelot. MERLIN caused a
freak storm to help ISOLDE escape, and he is confused at why he is so
taken with COLETTA. SIR KAY has returned to Camelot after a long
absence. ISOLDE OF BRITTANY is on the run from her betrothed, King Mark
of Cornwall after the loss of her love, Sir Tristan at sea. She is
seeking amnesty from Arthur & Guinevere. TRIEAHNY, a young servant under
a tyrannical Lord, was looked after by Sir Burmaltus, returning the
kindness by working in the kitchen. AOIFE played her wonderful music.
BURMALTUS almost got in the middle of a fight between Isolde and Elaine
but managed to avoid it. YWAYNE was wounded in a challenge battle with
Lord Giles after he was found in a compromising position with the Lord's
wife. MELLIANDRA introduced herself to TRIEAHNY, the runaway servant
girl. TRIEHNY confided a secret to MELLIANDRA, who in turn told MERLIN
out of concern. After months of neglect from her husband, ELAINE was
intimate with BURMALTUS. She also shows signs of illness as well as an
odd friendship with COLETTA.
September 30, 1997 GUINEVERE
returned to Camelot, at the same moment ARTHUR did, and openly pledged
her undying devotion to him, inspite of the accusations and threats of
ERIGAST. TRIEAHNY began her work in the kitchen, having been taken on as
Sir Burmaltus' ward. She revealed her secret to Merlin who had asked for
her company. Later in the evening she had an encounter with Erigast
Ramanti after which frightened she stayed by Merlin's side the remainder
of the evening. SIR BURMALTUS flirted with his paramour The ELAINE THE
FAIR, until Erigast came in when the base villain struck his ward the
maiden Trieahny, he flung his only weapon, his dagger, at him, which
Erigast caught and kept. Later Melliandra "urged" Burm to speak with
the King and seek audience - he did and the King has said they would
speak at another time in the Round Table Room. ELAINE remained at
Camelot per Morganna's request. Elaine and BURMALTUS were seen together
acting polite at times, and other times eyeing one another. MORGANNA
pulled Elaine into the Magickal Topiary Maze, and confided in her a
secret - Morganna is aligned with CHANCE HOLIDAY, and they plan to take
over Cmaelot...yet, Morganna is torn between her lust for Chance and her
love for Arthur. Elaine advised her to choose Chance and Camelot, then
she returned to the hall, unaffected by Chance's visit. She had a brief
argument with Lancelot in which he revealed that Malagant raped
Guinevere...and Elaine put 2 and 2 together, realizing that the queen's
child is the son of Elaine's husband. Once Lance left, Elaine collapsed
in Galahad's chambers, not only due to shock, but also her mysterious
"illness", which she begged her son not to reveal to anyone. She
remained in Camelot, deciding she never wants to return to her own home
again.
LADY VICTORIA returned with GUINEVERE from the Abbey and after taking
care of the horses, putting her things in her room and changing she made
her way to the Hall. Making sure her emotions were composed she opened
the doors to find the KING there with Guin and they were being
confronted by ERIGAST. Her anger in seeing him there was great but she
remain composed. Her emotions from the previous weeks events showed on
her face and all who looked at her saw the anger and hurt and confusion
(related to her purpose there) in her eyes. Erigast disappeared and
then reappeared suddenly taunting her and then disappeared again before
she could say anything. She was beside herself and sat down to drink,
Ywayne made a comment to her and she lashed out at him, drawing a sword
easily that was an ornamentation on the wall and speaking words from her
heart which may put her in great peril. Finally with the sword in hand
she fled the hall. SIR LANCELOT made his return. He does not know
whether his return will mean his death but he is willing to suffer the
consequences no matter what they may be. Lancelot had a talk with
GALAHAND in Galahad's chambers. Lance talked of his indiscretion with
the Queen. LADY ELAINE popped in during his conversation. Lance expects
that she overheard something.
I am currently trying to put together a concise summary of the 1998
play. All help and suggestions are welcome.
June 1998 Many months have past
and many things have occured in Camelot. Merlin gave his life to Save
Guinevere. Howvere, Sir Burmaltus and the Lady Victoria went out on a
quest, a quest to bring him back to the land of the living.
Unfortunately their quest was made more difficult with the unexpected
poisoning of the Queen. By who? Why Mordred of course. However,
Burmaltus and Lady Victoria were successful anyway, saving both
Guinevere and Merlin. Mordred still plotted away, to steal the Kingdom
and kill Arthur. His reward for such treason? As of Now he has been
chased out of Camelot where he reportedly is running raids on small
villages. Lancelot who was away was summoned back by the King who
leaves on a year long quest in September. Aoife still graces the Hall
with wondrous music despite the efforts of Mordred to rid Camelot of
her. SirKay has been away but remains in contact with the Queen and
wary of Arthur's relationship with the Lady Isolde. Alexander Crimsaun,
the Captain of the Guard, has been invaluable in keeping order. He was
even directly responsible for the banishment of Mordred. Sir Galahad
made a brief appearence but got fed up with the fighting between his
mother Elaine and Lancelot, so once again he has vanished.
November 1998 The fall of 1998
has seen the introduction of new characters like Crystal Monroe. Crystal
appears to be astonishingly like Merlin in her love for the forest and
all life around Camelot. Because of this, merlin is considering her for
his apprentice. Both Merlin and Crystal just recently saved a young
sappling that had succumb to the strange darkness that has befallen
Camelot. A dark duo have also crept they're way into the midst of it
all. Nick Dimashi and Farrah Skylor. Just what they're plans are are
not yet known but Nick calls himself the gamemaster. So this most likely
does not bode well for Camelot. Another has arrived. Sir Gareth, a young
man that has traveled to Camelot to test his skill and hopefully become
one of the best Knights around. So far, Gareth is fitting in well and
has been seen keeping company with the Young Princess Melliandra. Of
course Melliandra is still the obstinate and spoiled Princess, she has
always been. A tragedy has struck Camelot. Dekar Wessiri, a recent ally
to Camelot and key figure in bringing down Malagant, was found dead in
his sleeping chambers. The sight of this horrible scene has sent
Lancelot to the forest, cursing Arthur all along the way. Lancelot is
haunted nightly by horrible dreams, dreams that are slowly driving him
insane. Sir Gawain Gwalchmei, a young man seeking to become a knight
of the Round, has vanished but is believed to be on a quest, a quest to
prove his worthiness as a Knight of the Round. Sir Percival is away
also on a quest. As is Arthur's brother, Sir Kay.
The Holy Grail has been taken but by who, no one is sure. What is for
certain is, that since it's disappearence, a darkness has befallen the
land. A darkness that isn't evident to the naked eye but nonetheless,
chokes the life out every living thing in and around Camelot. The dark
plague Malagant forcast, has indeed come to pass. In fact, there is
growing belief that he himself pilfered the Grail. Because of this
Darkness, Arthur layes in his bed chambers, ill and cared for constantly
by Queen Guinevere. However Arthur's illness is a very closely guarded
secret. Only very few know. Morganna has been missing for months but
surprisingly, out of the blue, her mother Ygraine arrived at Camelot and
promptly began her game of wits with Merlin. The darkness plays havoc on
all, chasing away the more sensitive like Afton but she has just
returned. Dakin has been under a strange spell, though none are aware
of this yet. For now, Dakin seems to do Malagants bidding. The Lady
Victoria has also disappeared to parts unknown.
